Online Acne Consultation

Clearer skin starts here — speak to a doctor trained in acne treatment online

Get a personalised acne plan from a specially-trained General Practitioner (GP) with the support of our Consultant Dermatologists. GPs at Revessa can prescribe many of the same treatment options as a dermatologist for online care — including spironolactone where appropriate. Isotretinoin requires an in-person appointment.

Who this service suits: ideal if you already have a diagnosis of acne and would like to discuss treatment options further. If your diagnosis is uncertain or you’d like to explore treatment options in more depth, it’s better to book an online consultation with a dermatologist.

Fixed fee: £80

GP-led acne care, from home. Share photos securely, attend a video consultation, and receive a clear, staged plan to control breakouts and prevent scarring. Our GPs can prescribe the same online treatments you’d receive from a dermatologist (except isotretinoin).

*Isotretinoin can only be prescribed in person and requires safety monitoring. If you think you may need isotretinoin, consider booking an online dermatologist consultation to discuss this in detail.

Why choose Revessa for acne treatment?

Expert care

GP-led consultation

Your consultation is with a UK-trained GP experienced in acne treatment and prescribing.

Same prescriptions

Same online treatment options

Our GPs can prescribe the same medicines you’d receive from a dermatologist online — including topical retinoids, oral antibiotics, and spironolactone where appropriate. Isotretinoin requires in-person care.

Depth when needed

When to see a dermatologist

If your diagnosis is uncertain, complex, or you want to explore all treatment options in detail (including isotretinoin pathways), book an online dermatologist consultation.

Transparent pricing

Fixed fee: £80

The fee covers your GP online consultation and a personalised written plan. Medication and blood tests (if needed) are charged separately.

What we can offer

Topical treatments

Including prescription-strength retinoids, antibiotics, and combination creams to target blackheads, whiteheads, and inflammatory spots.

Oral antibiotics

Courses for moderate to severe acne to reduce inflammation and bacterial overgrowth.

Hormonal therapies

Options such as spironolactone and winlevi. Oral contraceptives require long-term monitoring and are best prescribed by your own GP.

Skin care and scarring prevention

Advice on cosmeceuticals, pigmentation control, and steps to prevent or minimise long-term scarring.

What to expect

Your GP will review your history, triggers, previous treatments and skincare routine. You’ll get a clear, staged plan with prescription options and practical routines to follow.

Photo quality matters: well-lit, in-focus images (ideally natural light, no make-up) help ensure accurate advice and treatment.

If the diagnosis is unclear or you wish to discuss treatment options in more detail, it’s better to book an online dermatologist consultation.

How It Works

1) Book & upload photos

Choose a time and complete our short questionnaire. Clear photos are essential — use good lighting, steady hands, and include close-ups and a wider view.

2) Online consultation

Meet your GP online to discuss symptoms, goals and treatment options. We tailor a plan to you.

3) Treatment & follow-up

Receive your plan in writing and e-prescriptions. Optional blood tests arranged if needed. Isotretinoin requires an in-person appointment and cannot be prescribed online. If you need a deeper discussion or the diagnosis is uncertain, book an online dermatologist consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Who will I see for my consultation?

Your consultation is with a UK-trained General Practitioner (GP) experienced in acne treatment.

Can your GP prescribe the same treatments as a dermatologist?

Yes. For online care our GPs can prescribe the same treatment options a dermatologist would — including topical retinoids, oral antibiotics and spironolactone when appropriate. Isotretinoin cannot be prescribed online and requires in-person care.

Can you prescribe isotretinoin (Roaccutane)?

No. Isotretinoin requires an in-person consultation and safety monitoring. If you wish to consider this medicine or discuss it in detail, please book an online dermatologist consultation.

Do I need blood tests?

Not everyone does. For certain medicines (e.g. spironolactone) blood tests are required. Your GP may be willing to perform these, or we can organise tests in central London.

How quickly can I start treatment?

Most patients receive a plan and prescription on the day of consultation. Some treatments require baseline blood tests before starting.

Is online suitable if I’m not sure what I have?

Online works well for many patients, but if the diagnosis is unclear — or if you want to explore options in depth — we recommend an online dermatologist consultation.

Can you issue NHS prescriptions?

No, NHS prescriptions cannot be issued from a private consultation and the pharmacy charges for medication. Costs vary by medicine and are usually higher than the NHS prescription charge.

What is the cost?

The fee for an online acne consultation is £80. Medication, tests and follow-ups are additional.

What types of acne are not suitable?

Severe nodulocystic acne is often best treated with isotretinoin. As isotretinoin cannot be prescribed online, please consider an online dermatologist consultation to discuss next steps.
